Estimating Sparse Deformation Fields Using Multiscale Bayesian Priors and 3-D Ultrasound

چکیده
This paper presents an extension to the standard Bayesian image analysis paradigm to explicitly incorporate a multiscale approach. This new technique is demonstrated by applying it to the problem of compensating for soft tissue deformation of pre-segmented surfaces for image-guided surgery using 3-D ultrasound. The solution is regularised using knowledge of the mean and Gaussian curvatures of the surface estimate. Results are presented from testing the method on ultrasound data acquired from a volunteer's liver. Two structures were segmented from an MR scan of the volunteer: the liver surface and the portal vein. Accurate estimates of the deformed surfaces were successfully computed using the algorithm, based on prior probabilities deened using a minimal amount of human intervention. With a more accurate prior model, this technique has the possibility to completely automate the process of compensating for intraoperative deformation in image-guided surgery.

Bayesian Blind Deconvolution with General Sparse Image Priors
We present a general method for blind image deconvolution using Bayesian inference with super-Gaussian sparse image priors. We consider a large family of priors suitable for modeling natural images, and develop the general procedure for estimating the unknown image and the blur. Our formulation includes a number of existing modeling and inference methods as special cases while providing additio...
متن کاملSegmentation and Registration Coupling from Short-Axis Cine MRI: Application to Infarct Diagnosis
Estimating regional deformation of the myocardium from Cine MRI has the potential to locate abnormal tissue. Regional deformation of the left ventricle is commonly estimated using either segmentation or 3D+t registration. Segmentation is often performed at each instant separately from the others. It can be tedious and does not guarantee temporal causality. On the other hand, extracting regional...

In this paper our aim is to provide tools for easily calculating the maxisets of several procedures. Then we apply these results to perform a comparison between several Bayesian estimators in a non parametric setting. We obtain that many Bayesian rules can be described through a general behavior such as being shrinkage rules, limited, and/or elitist rules. This has consequences on their maxiset...
متن کاملStatistical limits of spiked tensor models
We study the statistical limits of both detecting and estimating a rank-one deformation of a symmetric random Gaussian tensor. We establish upper and lower bounds on the critical signal-to-noise ratio, under a variety of priors for the planted vector: (i) a uniformly sampled unit vector, (ii) i.i.d. ±1 entries, and (iii) a sparse vector where a constant fraction ρ of entries are i.i.d. ±1 and t...
متن کاملBayesian Sample size Determination for Longitudinal Studies with Continuous Response using Marginal Models
Introduction Longitudinal study designs are common in a lot of scientific researches, especially in medical, social and economic sciences. The reason is that longitudinal studies allow researchers to measure changes of each individual over time and often have higher statistical power than cross-sectional studies. Choosing an appropriate sample size is a crucial step in a successful study. A st...
